LENS BARREL UNIT - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18630813 titled 'LENS BARREL UNIT

Simplified Explanation: The lens barrel unit described in the patent application includes a lens unit with at least one lens, an optical-filter holding member, and a drive member. The optical-filter holding member can hold an optical filter and can be inserted into or removed from the light path of the lens. The drive member is responsible for inserting or removing the optical-filter holding member into or from the light path. Additionally, the drive member engages with the optical-filter holding member and has an opening that aligns with the optical axis of the lens unit.

Key Features and Innovation:

  • Lens barrel unit with a lens unit, optical-filter holding member, and drive member.
  • Optical-filter holding member can hold and insert/remove optical filters from the light path.
  • Drive member engages with the optical-filter holding member and aligns with the optical axis of the lens unit.

Potential Applications: This technology could be used in various optical devices such as cameras, telescopes, microscopes, and other imaging systems.

Problems Solved: The lens barrel unit simplifies the process of inserting and removing optical filters in the light path of the lens, making it more efficient and convenient for users.

Benefits:

  • Easy insertion and removal of optical filters.
  • Improved control over the light path in optical devices.
  • Enhanced versatility and functionality in optical systems.

Commercial Applications: The lens barrel unit could be utilized in the manufacturing of cameras, telescopes, microscopes, and other optical devices, improving their performance and user experience.

Questions about Lens Barrel Unit: 1. How does the drive member align with the optical axis of the lens unit? 2. What are the potential implications of this technology in the field of photography and imaging?

Original Abstract Submitted

A lens barrel unit includes a lens unit including at least one lens, an optical-filter holding member, and a drive member. The optical-filter holding member holds an optical filter and is insertable into and removable from a light path of the at least one lens. The drive member inserts or removes the optical-filter holding member into or from the light path. The drive member further engages with the optical-filter holding member and has an opening penetrating in a direction of an optical axis of the at least one lens. At least part of the lens unit is arranged in the opening of the drive member.
