ONLINE MERGING OF FRAGMENTED COMPUTING RESOURCES ACROSS STORAGE SERVERS BY TENANT IN CLOUD ENVIRONMENTS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18628372 titled 'ONLINE MERGING OF FRAGMENTED COMPUTING RESOURCES ACROSS STORAGE SERVERS BY TENANT IN CLOUD ENVIRONMENTS

The abstract of the patent application describes a method for storing client data, determining defragmentation of core groups, identifying a destination core group for client data, and managing interim data write requests.

  • Client data is stored for a single client.
  • Defragmentation of core groups is decided based on specific criteria.
  • A destination core group is selected to receive client data.
  • Additional core groups are initiated to handle interim data write requests.
  • The fragmented core groups are closed to data write requests.
  • The core groups are merged into the destination core group for defragmentation.
  • The destination core group is available for data read and delete requests.
  • The fragmented core groups are reallocated for other purposes.
  • The additional core groups continue to receive read and write requests.
  • Further merging and defragmentation of core groups can be performed.

Potential Applications: - Data storage and management systems - Database optimization tools - Cloud computing platforms

Problems Solved: - Efficient management of client data - Optimization of core group allocation - Streamlining data write requests

Benefits: - Improved data organization - Enhanced system performance - Increased storage efficiency

Commercial Applications: Title: "Advanced Data Defragmentation Technology for Enhanced Storage Solutions" This technology can be applied in various industries such as cloud computing, data centers, and large-scale enterprises to optimize data storage and improve system performance.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does this technology improve data storage efficiency? - This technology optimizes core group allocation and streamlines data write requests, leading to improved data organization and system performance. 2. What are the potential applications of this defragmentation method? - This method can be used in data storage and management systems, database optimization tools, and cloud computing platforms.

Original Abstract Submitted

Client data corresponding to a single client can be stored. A decision to proceed with a defragmentation of two or more particular core groups can be determined. A destination core group to receive client data can be identified. At least one additional core group can be initiated to manage interim data write requests from the single client. Each of the two or more particular core groups can be closed to data write requests. A defragmentation of the two or more particular core groups can be performed by merging into the destination core group. The destination core group can be availed to data read and delete requests. The two or more fragmented core groups can be reallocated for other uses. The additional core groups continue to receive read and write requests. The destination core groups further can be merged and defragmented further.
