SHEET DISCHARGING APPARATUS AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18625287 titled 'SHEET DISCHARGING APPARATUS AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS

The patent application describes a sheet discharging apparatus with a unique design to improve functionality and efficiency.

  • The apparatus includes a first support shaft and a first roller supported by it.
  • It also features a second support shaft and a second roller with a smaller outer surface diameter.
  • A holder member supports the second support shaft and includes a rotating portion that rotates with the second roller.
  • The second outer surface is positioned closer to the supporting portion than the middle point between the second roller and the supporting portion.
  • The uppermost position of the second outer surface is higher than the uppermost position of the supporting portion.

Potential Applications: - Printing industry for paper handling and processing. - Packaging industry for material handling and packaging processes.

Problems Solved: - Improved sheet discharging efficiency. - Enhanced support for rollers during operation.

Benefits: - Increased productivity in paper handling. - Reduced wear and tear on rollers.

Commercial Applications: Title: Enhanced Sheet Discharging Apparatus for Printing and Packaging Industries This technology can be used in printing and packaging industries to streamline sheet discharging processes, leading to increased efficiency and reduced maintenance costs.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does the design of the rotating portion improve the performance of the sheet discharging apparatus? 2. What are the specific advantages of having the second outer surface positioned closer to the supporting portion?

Original Abstract Submitted

A sheet discharging apparatus includes a first support shaft, a first roller supported by the first support shaft, a second support shaft, a second roller supported by the second support shaft and including a first outer surface, a holder member including a supporting portion configured to support the second support shaft, and a rotating portion that includes a second outer surface having a diameter smaller than a diameter of the first outer surface and greater than a diameter of the second support shaft and that is configured to rotate integrally with the second roller. At least a portion of the second outer surface is positioned closer to the supporting portion than a middle point between the second roller and the supporting portion in the axial direction. An uppermost position of the second outer surface is higher than an uppermost position of the supporting portion.
