A method and apparatus for enhanced discontinuous transmission is provided. Method for discontinuous transmission includes receiving RRC message from the base station, transmitting CGI on PUCCH based on the one or more CGI parameters. CGI comprises one or more bits and performing uplink transmission for configured grants according to the reported CGI during the specific period. The RRC message includes one or more configured grant parameters and one or more CGI parameters. Each of one or more bits corresponds to a set of configured grants during a specific period.
