METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR SIGNALLING RADIO LINK FAILURE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18617510 titled 'METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR SIGNALLING RADIO LINK FAILURE

The abstract describes an apparatus that operates in a dual connectivity mode, communicating with both a master cell group and a secondary cell group. It detects a radio link failure between the apparatus and the primary cell of the secondary cell group and provides this information to the primary cell of the master cell group.

  • The apparatus operates in a dual connectivity mode, communicating with both a master cell group and a secondary cell group.
  • It detects radio link failures between the apparatus and the primary cell of the secondary cell group.
  • Information about the radio link failure is provided to the primary cell of the master cell group.
  • The information indicates that the radio link failure occurred while waiting for a prepared conditional cell change from the primary cell of the secondary cell group to be fulfilled.

Potential Applications: - This technology could be used in telecommunications systems to improve network reliability and efficiency. - It could be applied in mobile devices to enhance connectivity and seamless handover between different cell groups.

Problems Solved: - Addresses issues related to radio link failures in dual connectivity modes. - Improves communication and coordination between primary and secondary cell groups.

Benefits: - Enhances network performance and reliability. - Facilitates seamless connectivity and handover processes. - Optimizes resource allocation and utilization in telecommunications systems.

Commercial Applications: Title: Enhanced Dual Connectivity Technology for Improved Network Performance This technology could be utilized by telecommunications companies to enhance the reliability and efficiency of their networks, leading to improved customer satisfaction and overall network performance. It could also be integrated into mobile devices to provide users with seamless connectivity and enhanced communication capabilities.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does this technology improve network reliability in dual connectivity modes? 2. What are the potential implications of this technology for telecommunications companies and mobile device manufacturers?

Original Abstract Submitted

An apparatus is caused at least to operate the apparatus in a dual connectivity mode, wherein the apparatus is in communication with a master cell group comprising a primary cell and at least one secondary cell and the apparatus is in communication with a secondary cell group comprising a primary cell and at least one secondary cell; detect a radio link failure between the apparatus and the primary cell of the secondary cell group; and provide information based on the radio link failure to the primary cell of the master cell group, the information being that the radio link failure occurred on the secondary cell group while waiting for a prepared conditional cell change from the primary cell of the secondary cell group to be fulfilled.
