ELECTRONIC DEVICE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18613209 titled 'ELECTRONIC DEVICE

The abstract describes an electronic device with a housing, a display, an imaging unit, and a plurality of microphones positioned around the display and imaging unit in a planar view of the housing.

  • The microphones are placed at varying distances from the display in a first direction and side by side at intervals in a second direction intersecting the first direction.
  • The positioning of the microphones allows for capturing sound from different angles and distances, enhancing audio quality and spatial awareness.
  • This innovative design improves the overall audio recording and playback experience on the electronic device.
  • The device may utilize this setup for features such as noise cancellation, spatial audio recording, or enhanced voice recognition capabilities.
  • The technology could be applied in smartphones, tablets, laptops, or any other electronic device requiring high-quality audio input and output.

Potential Applications: - Smartphones - Tablets - Laptops - Smart home devices

Problems Solved: - Enhanced audio quality - Improved spatial awareness in audio recordings - Better voice recognition capabilities

Benefits: - Superior audio recording and playback experience - Enhanced noise cancellation features - Improved voice recognition accuracy

Commercial Applications: Title: Innovative Audio Technology for Electronic Devices This technology could be utilized in a wide range of consumer electronics, improving the audio experience for users and potentially increasing the market competitiveness of the devices.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does the positioning of the microphones impact the audio quality captured by the device? 2. What are the potential applications of this technology beyond consumer electronics?

Original Abstract Submitted

An electronic device of the present disclosure includes: a housing; a display disposed in the housing; an imaging unit disposed in the housing and positioned around the display in a planar view of the housing; and a plurality of microphones disposed in the housing and positioned around the imaging unit in a planar view of the housing. The plurality of microphones are disposed at positions closer to the display than the imaging unit or at positions farther from the display than the imaging unit in a first direction in which the display and the imaging unit are adjacent to each other, and are disposed side by side at intervals in a second direction intersecting the first direction.
