DEVICE IDENTIFICATION SYSTEMS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18609751 titled 'DEVICE IDENTIFICATION SYSTEMS

The abstract describes a device identification system that determines the identity of a user device associated with a transaction, using network address information, hard link information, soft link information, and other relevant data.

  • The system may utilize IPv4 information, IPv6 information, device ID, and other network address information to establish the identity of the user device.
  • A fraudulent transaction risk score is assigned to transactions conducted from the user device based on the gathered information.
  • Transactions deemed to be at high risk of fraud may be flagged, reviewed, or canceled to prevent potential fraudulent activities.

Potential Applications: - Online payment systems - E-commerce platforms - Financial institutions

Problems Solved: - Mitigating fraudulent transactions - Enhancing security in online transactions

Benefits: - Improved fraud detection capabilities - Enhanced user device identification - Increased transaction security

Commercial Applications: Title: Enhanced Fraud Detection System for Online Transactions This technology can be utilized by online payment processors, e-commerce websites, and financial institutions to enhance security measures and prevent fraudulent activities in transactions.

Questions about Device Identification System: 1. How does the device identification system determine the identity of a user device? The system determines the identity of a user device by analyzing network address information, hard link information, soft link information, and other relevant data associated with the device.

2. What types of transactions are flagged as high risk by the system? Transactions that are deemed to be at high risk of fraud based on the assigned fraudulent transaction risk score may be flagged, reviewed, or canceled to prevent potential fraudulent activities.

Original Abstract Submitted

Methods and systems for a device identification system may be provided. The device identification system may determine an identity of a user device associated with a transaction. The identity may be determined by network address information, hard link information, soft link information, and/or other such information. The network address information may include IPv4 information, IPv6 information, a device ID, and/or other such information. The identity of the user device may be determined and a transaction conducted from the user device may be assigned a fraudulent transaction risk score according to the information. Transactions that are determined to be at a high risk of fraud may be reviewed or otherwise flagged and/or canceled.
