WEARABLE HEALTH MONITORING DEVICE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18608492 titled 'WEARABLE HEALTH MONITORING DEVICE

Simplified Explanation:

This patent application describes a wearable health monitoring device that can detect health parameters below the skin surface using radio waves.

  • The device includes a housing and an attachment device with antennas to transmit and receive radio waves.
  • A processing unit isolates signals from specific locations in a 3D space below the skin surface to determine the user's health parameters.

Key Features and Innovation:

  • Wearable health monitoring device with antennas for transmitting and receiving radio waves.
  • Ability to detect health parameters in a 3D space below the skin surface.
  • Processing unit isolates signals from specific locations to provide accurate health parameter readings.

Potential Applications:

  • Remote health monitoring for individuals with chronic conditions.
  • Fitness tracking for athletes and active individuals.
  • Early detection of health issues for preventive healthcare.

Problems Solved:

  • Invasive procedures for monitoring health parameters.
  • Limited ability to monitor health parameters continuously.
  • Lack of accurate and real-time health data.

Benefits:

  • Non-invasive and continuous health monitoring.
  • Accurate and real-time health parameter readings.
  • Early detection of health issues for timely intervention.

Commercial Applications:

  • Healthcare industry for remote patient monitoring.
  • Fitness and wellness industry for personalized tracking.
  • Research institutions for health data collection and analysis.

Questions about Wearable Health Monitoring Device:

1. How does the device transmit and receive radio waves to detect health parameters? 2. What are the potential privacy concerns associated with monitoring health parameters using radio waves?

2. Another relevant generic question, with a detailed answer:

What are the advantages of using radio waves for monitoring health parameters compared to other methods? Radio waves can penetrate the skin and provide information about the body's internal processes without the need for invasive procedures. This non-invasive approach allows for continuous monitoring and real-time data collection, making it a convenient and effective method for tracking health parameters.

Original Abstract Submitted

A wearable health monitoring device comprising a housing and an attachment device detachably coupled to the housing. The attachment device having one or more transmit and receive antennas configured to transmit radio waves and receive a responded portion of the transmitted radio waves over a three-dimensional (3D) space below the skin surface of a user. A processing unit is configured to isolate a signal from a particular location in the 3D space in response to the received radio waves on the one or more receive antennas and output a signal corresponding to the user's health parameters in response to the isolated signal.
