Switching Schemes for Repetitions of Transport Blocks - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18604090 titled 'Switching Schemes for Repetitions of Transport Blocks

The abstract describes a wireless device that receives instructions on how to switch between two beams for transmitting data over a shared channel.

  • The switching scheme can apply one beam to one transmission occasion and the other beam to another, or one beam to multiple occasions and the other beam to different occasions.
  • The device receives control information indicating repetitions of data blocks via the transmission occasions.
  • Based on the switching scheme, the device transmits repetitions of the data blocks using the specified beams.

Potential Applications: - This technology can be used in wireless communication systems to optimize data transmission over shared channels. - It can improve the efficiency and reliability of data transmission in scenarios where multiple beams are utilized.

Problems Solved: - Efficient switching between beams for data transmission. - Ensuring reliable reception of data blocks through repeated transmissions.

Benefits: - Enhanced data transmission performance. - Improved reliability in wireless communication systems.

Commercial Applications: Title: "Optimized Beam Switching for Wireless Data Transmission" This technology can be applied in 5G networks, IoT devices, and satellite communication systems to enhance data transmission efficiency and reliability. It can be valuable for telecommunications companies, IoT device manufacturers, and satellite communication providers.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does this technology improve data transmission efficiency in wireless communication systems? 2. What are the potential challenges in implementing optimized beam switching for data transmission in real-world scenarios?

Original Abstract Submitted

A wireless device receives an indication of a switching scheme for switching a first beam and a second beam over physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) transmission occasions. The switching scheme is selected from a first switching scheme applying the first beam to a first PDSCH transmission occasion and the second beam to a second PDSCH transmission occasion and a second switching scheme applying the first beam to two first PDSCH transmission occasions and the second beam to two second PDSCH transmission occasions. The wireless device receives downlink control information indicating repetitions of a transport block (TB) via the PDSCH transmission occasions. The wireless device receives, based on the switching scheme, a first repetition of the repetitions of the TB with the first beam and a second repetition of the repetitions of the TB with the second beam.
