SOLAR CELL, PHOTOVOLTAIC MODULE, AND ELECTRICAL DEVICE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18602023 titled 'SOLAR CELL, PHOTOVOLTAIC MODULE, AND ELECTRICAL DEVICE

The abstract describes a solar cell with multiple sub-cells arranged in a specific manner to improve uniformity of photocurrents and electrical current output.

  • The solar cell consists of multiple sub-cells arranged sequentially along a specific direction.
  • Each sub-cell includes a photovoltaic conversion layer for converting solar energy into electrical energy.
  • The thickness of the photovoltaic conversion layer in each sub-cell changes in a way that is negatively correlated with the cross-sectional area of the layer, improving uniformity of output.
  • This design enhances the uniformity of photocurrents and electrical current output by the sub-cells.

Potential Applications: - Solar energy generation systems - Renewable energy applications - Power generation for remote locations

Problems Solved: - Inconsistencies in photocurrent and electrical current output in traditional solar cells - Lack of uniformity in energy conversion efficiency

Benefits: - Improved efficiency in solar energy conversion - Enhanced performance in varying light conditions - Cost-effective energy generation solution

Commercial Applications: Title: Enhanced Solar Cell Technology for Improved Energy Generation This technology can be applied in: - Residential solar panels - Commercial solar energy systems - Off-grid power solutions for remote areas

Questions about Solar Cell Technology: 1. How does the arrangement of sub-cells in this solar cell design improve energy output uniformity?

  - The arrangement ensures that the thickness of the photovoltaic conversion layer is inversely related to its cross-sectional area, leading to enhanced uniformity in output.

2. What are the key advantages of using a solar cell with multiple sub-cells compared to traditional solar cell designs?

  - The use of multiple sub-cells improves efficiency, uniformity, and overall performance of the solar cell, making it a more reliable energy generation solution.

Original Abstract Submitted

A solar cell includes a plurality of sub-cells. The plurality of sub-cells are disposed sequentially along a first direction. The plurality of sub-cells each include a first photovoltaic conversion layer for performing photovoltaic conversion. The first direction is perpendicular to a thickness direction of the sub-cells. Along the first direction, a trend of change in a thickness of the first photovoltaic conversion layer of each sub-cell is negatively correlated to a trend of change in a cross-sectional area, perpendicular to the thickness direction, of each first photovoltaic conversion layer, so as to improve uniformity of photocurrents output by the sub-cells and uniformity of electrical current.
