METHOD FOR IDENTIFYING USER'S REAL HAND AND WEARABLE DEVICE THEREFOR - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18600222 titled 'METHOD FOR IDENTIFYING USER'S REAL HAND AND WEARABLE DEVICE THEREFOR
Simplified Explanation
The method described in the patent application involves using a sensor in a wearable device to identify a user's hand and estimate the position of their shoulder based on the hand's orientation and other body parts. This information is then used to determine if the hand belongs to the genuine user.
- Sensor in wearable device recognizes user's hand
- Estimates shoulder position based on hand orientation and body parts
- Determines if hand belongs to genuine user

Questions about Hand Identification Technology
How does this method improve user authentication compared to traditional methods?
This method enhances security by incorporating body part positioning for user verification, adding an extra layer of authentication.
What are the potential privacy concerns associated with using wearable devices for hand identification?
Privacy concerns may arise regarding the collection and storage of biometric data, requiring robust data protection measures to address these issues.
Original Abstract Submitted
Provided is a method of identifying a hand of a genuine user wearing a wearable device. According to an embodiment, the method includes using a sensor included in the wearable device to recognize a hand located in a detection area of the sensor; estimating a position of a shoulder connected to the recognized hand based on a positional relation between the orientation of the recognized hand and at least one body part connected to the recognized hand; and using information about a probability of a shoulder of the genuine user being present in the estimated position to determine whether the recognized hand is a hand of the genuine user.
