IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18599884 titled 'IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS

The image forming apparatus described in the patent application includes components such as an image carrier, a charging device, an exposure device, a development device, and a development voltage power supply.

  • The development device contains a nonmagnetic one-component developer made solely of toner, stored in a development container along with a developer carrier that has a toner layer on its outer surface.
  • The development voltage power supply applies a development voltage to the developer carrier, allowing for the formation of white regions and exposed regions on the image carrier's surface to create a solid image with an area ratio less than 100%.
  • The formula Vd≥0.5*(V-VL)+VL-Vt must be satisfied, where V represents the white-region potential of the image carrier, VL represents the exposed-region potential, Vt represents the toner-layer potential, and Vd represents the development voltage.

Potential Applications: - This technology can be used in various printing and copying machines to produce high-quality images with precise details. - It can also be applied in industries requiring accurate image reproduction, such as graphic design and advertising.

Problems Solved: - The development device's unique composition and the application of the development voltage help in achieving consistent and clear image formation. - The apparatus ensures that the solid image created has a defined area ratio, enhancing the overall print quality.

Benefits: - Improved image quality and clarity in printed materials. - Enhanced efficiency in image reproduction processes. - Cost-effective solution for businesses requiring high-quality printing capabilities.

Commercial Applications: Title: Advanced Image Forming Technology for Enhanced Print Quality This technology can be utilized in commercial printing services, graphic design studios, and office environments for producing professional-grade printed materials with exceptional detail and clarity.

Questions about Image Forming Apparatus: 1. How does the development voltage power supply contribute to the image formation process? The development voltage power supply plays a crucial role in applying the necessary voltage to the developer carrier, allowing for precise toner deposition on the image carrier's surface.

2. What sets this image forming apparatus apart from traditional printing methods? This apparatus stands out due to its unique development device composition and the specific formula that must be satisfied for optimal image formation.

Original Abstract Submitted

An image forming apparatus includes an image carrier, a charging device, an exposure device, a development device, and a development voltage power supply. The development device includes a development container storing a nonmagnetic one-component developer composed only of a toner, and a developer carrier on which a toner layer is formed on an outer circumferential surface thereof. The development voltage power supply applies a development voltage to the developer carrier. The image forming apparatus alternately forms white regions and exposed regions at a predetermined pitch repeatedly on a surface of the image carrier to form a solid image with an area ratio lower than 100%. Where V represents a white-region potential of the image carrier, VL represents an exposed-region potential of the image carrier, Vt represents a toner-layer potential, and Vd represents the development voltage, Vd≤0.5*(V−VL)+VL−Vt is fulfilled.
