VEHICLE SURROUNDING ENVIRONMENT MONITORING APPARATUS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18597713 titled 'VEHICLE SURROUNDING ENVIRONMENT MONITORING APPARATUS

The abstract describes a vehicle surrounding environment monitoring apparatus that uses facial recognition technology to determine if a person outside the vehicle is the same as the occupant inside. If the person is not the occupant, a notification is issued to either the person outside or the occupant inside the vehicle.

  • The imaging device captures facial information of a person outside the vehicle.
  • The memory stores facial information of the occupant inside the vehicle.
  • The notifier sends notifications based on the comparison of the facial information.
  • The vehicle control processor determines if the person outside is the occupant based on facial recognition.
  • Notifications are issued to the appropriate party depending on the determination.

Potential Applications: - Enhanced security features in vehicles - Personalized notifications for occupants - Improved communication between occupants and individuals outside the vehicle

Problems Solved: - Ensuring the safety and security of vehicle occupants - Preventing unauthorized access to the vehicle - Providing a seamless communication system between occupants and external individuals

Benefits: - Increased security and peace of mind for vehicle occupants - Customized notifications based on facial recognition - Efficient and accurate communication system in vehicles

Commercial Applications: Title: Facial Recognition Vehicle Security System This technology can be used in automotive security systems, ride-sharing services, and fleet management companies to enhance safety and communication within vehicles.

Prior Art: Further research can be conducted in the field of facial recognition technology in vehicles, security systems, and communication devices to explore similar innovations.

Frequently Updated Research: Stay updated on advancements in facial recognition technology, vehicle security systems, and communication protocols to enhance the capabilities of this monitoring apparatus.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does the apparatus differentiate between the surrounding person and the occupant based on facial recognition? 2. What are the potential privacy concerns associated with using facial recognition technology in vehicles?

Original Abstract Submitted

A vehicle surrounding environment monitoring apparatus includes an imaging device, a memory, a notifier, and a vehicle control processor. The imaging device acquires surrounding person facial information on the surrounding person. The memory stores occupant facial information on an occupant of the vehicle. The notifier issues a notification to one or both of the surrounding person and the occupant. The vehicle control processor performs a determination as to whether the surrounding person is the occupant by comparing the surrounding person facial information with the occupant facial information. The vehicle control processor causes the notifier to issue the notification to one or both of the surrounding person and the occupant when determining that the surrounding person is not the occupant. The vehicle control processor refrains from causing the notifier to issue the notification to the surrounding person when determining that the surrounding person is the occupant.
