DRIVING TOOL - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18591018 titled 'DRIVING TOOL

The driving tool described in the patent application consists of a tool body with a driving channel, a magazine attached to the tool body, a pusher that biases driven members towards the driving channel, a driver that strikes one of the driven members in the channel, a blank drive preventing mechanism, and a resistance-applying member.

  • The magazine is attached to the tool body.
  • A pusher biases driven members towards the driving channel.
  • The driver strikes one of the driven members in the channel.
  • A blank drive preventing mechanism restricts driving operation when the number of driven members is low.
  • A resistance-applying member applies resistance to driven members inside the magazine.
  • The resistance-applying member is located corresponding to the shortest driven member.

Potential Applications: - This driving tool could be used in construction, manufacturing, or automotive industries. - It could also be utilized in DIY projects or home improvement tasks.

Problems Solved: - Prevents driving operation when there are insufficient driven members. - Maintains the orientation of driven members inside the magazine.

Benefits: - Enhances safety by preventing blank drives. - Improves efficiency by maintaining the orientation of driven members.

Commercial Applications: Title: Innovative Driving Tool for Enhanced Efficiency in Construction This technology could be commercialized by tool manufacturers for various industries, offering improved safety and efficiency in driving operations.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does the resistance-applying member enhance the functionality of the driving tool? - The resistance-applying member applies resistance to maintain the orientation of driven members inside the magazine, preventing blank drives and ensuring efficient operation. 2. What are the potential market implications of this innovative driving tool? - The driving tool could have significant market implications in industries where precision and efficiency in driving operations are crucial.

Original Abstract Submitted

A driving tool has a tool body with a driving channel. A magazine is attached to the tool body. A pusher biases driven members inside the magazine toward the driving channel. The driver strikes one of the driven members fed in the driving channel. A blank drive preventing mechanism restricts a driving operation of the driver when a number of driven members inside the magazine is less than or equal to a predetermined number. The resistance-applying member applies resistance to the driven members remaining inside the magazine when the blank drive preventing mechanism is actuated and maintains the orientation of the driven members. The resistance-applying member is provided at a location corresponding to the shortest available driven member.
