VEHICLE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18590236 titled 'VEHICLE

The patent application describes a vehicle with a unique seating arrangement that integrates a battery pack and an exhaust duct.

  • The vehicle includes a floor panel, a seat rail, a movable member engaged with the seat rail, a seat supported by the movable member, a battery pack, and an exhaust duct with an exhaust port.
  • The battery pack consists of a battery cover and a battery module, while the seat features a seating portion.
  • An under-seat cover member is fixed to either the movable member or the seat, sliding in the front-rear direction with them.
  • The rear end of the under-seat cover member is positioned between the front and rear ends of the battery cover, with the front end bent downward.
  • The front end of the under-seat cover member is located in front of the exhaust port and below the upper end of the exhaust port.

Potential Applications: - This innovative seating arrangement could be applied in electric vehicles to optimize space and component integration. - It may also find use in autonomous vehicles where efficient use of space is crucial.

Problems Solved: - Efficient use of space within a vehicle, especially when integrating components like battery packs and exhaust systems. - Streamlining the design of vehicle interiors to enhance functionality and comfort.

Benefits: - Maximizes interior space in vehicles for improved comfort and functionality. - Enhances the integration of essential components like battery packs and exhaust systems.

Commercial Applications: - Electric vehicle manufacturers could benefit from this technology by improving the design and functionality of their vehicles, potentially attracting more customers in the competitive market.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does the integration of the battery pack and exhaust duct impact the overall design of the vehicle? 2. What are the potential challenges in implementing this seating arrangement in different types of vehicles?

Original Abstract Submitted

A vehicle includes: a floor panel; a seat rail attached to the floor panel; a movable member slidably engaged with the seat rail; a seat supported by the movable member; a battery pack; and an exhaust duct having an exhaust port, wherein the battery pack includes a battery cover covering a battery module, the seat includes a seating portion, an under-seat cover member is fixed to at least one of the movable member and the seat, and slides in the front-rear direction integrally with the movable member and the seat, a rear end of the under-seat cover member is positioned between a front end and a rear end of the battery cover, a front end portion of the under-seat cover member is bent downward; and a front end of the under-seat cover member is positioned in front of the exhaust port and below an upper end of the exhaust port.
