ILLUMINATION DEVICE FOR VEHICLE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18585123 titled 'ILLUMINATION DEVICE FOR VEHICLE

In an illumination device for a vehicle, the abstract describes a system where an exterior light is controlled based on the presence of a following vehicle and the driver's recognition of it.

  • The recognition part identifies when a following vehicle is behind the vehicle on one side.
  • The detection part determines if the driver acknowledges the following vehicle.
  • The exterior light is adjusted to different lighting states based on these factors.
  • The system ensures that the lighting states are distinct from each other.

Potential Applications: - Automotive safety systems - Driver assistance technology - Vehicle communication systems

Problems Solved: - Enhancing driver awareness of surrounding vehicles - Improving visibility for other drivers on the road

Benefits: - Increased safety on the road - Enhanced communication between vehicles - Improved driver confidence and comfort

Commercial Applications: Title: Advanced Vehicle Illumination System for Enhanced Safety This technology can be utilized by automotive manufacturers to enhance the safety features of their vehicles, appealing to safety-conscious consumers. It can also be integrated into autonomous vehicle systems to improve communication between vehicles on the road.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does the system differentiate between the first and second lighting states? The system uses input from the recognition and detection parts to determine the appropriate lighting state. 2. What are the potential implications of this technology for future vehicle safety standards? This technology could potentially influence future regulations regarding vehicle lighting and communication systems.

Original Abstract Submitted

In an illumination device for a vehicle, when a recognition part recognizes that a following vehicle is present behind a vehicle and on one side of either left or right side in a vehicle width direction, and when a detection part detects that a driver recognizes the following vehicle, an exterior light is made to either first lit or first not-lit state. When the recognition part recognizes that the following vehicle is present behind the vehicle and on one side of either the left or right side in the vehicle width direction, and when the detection part detects that the driver does not recognize the following vehicle, the exterior light is made to either second lit or second not-lit state. The first lighting state and the second lighting state are different from each other, and the first not-lit state and the second not-lit state are different from each other.
