FLEXIBLE ELECTROMAGNETIC SHIELDING THAT ATTENUATES ELECTROMAGNETIC INTERFERENCE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18584752 titled 'FLEXIBLE ELECTROMAGNETIC SHIELDING THAT ATTENUATES ELECTROMAGNETIC INTERFERENCE

The patent application describes electromagnetic shielding designed to reduce electromagnetic interference (EMI) within a specific frequency range. The shielding consists of a layer of metal, such as aluminum foil, and a layer of thermoplastic polymer fabric with apertures for electronic equipment protection.

  • The electromagnetic shielding is configured to attenuate EMI by a threshold amount within a predefined frequency range.
  • It includes a layer of metal, like aluminum foil, and a layer of thermoplastic polymer fabric with apertures.
  • The shielding is draped over electronic equipment to protect it from EMI.
  • The innovation aims to enhance the performance and reliability of electronic devices by reducing EMI interference.

Potential Applications: - Electronics manufacturing - Aerospace industry - Medical equipment

Problems Solved: - Minimizing electromagnetic interference - Protecting electronic equipment from external interference

Benefits: - Improved performance of electronic devices - Enhanced reliability - Reduced risk of malfunctions due to EMI

Commercial Applications: Title: "Innovative Electromagnetic Shielding for Enhanced Electronic Device Performance" This technology can be utilized in various industries such as electronics manufacturing, aerospace, and medical equipment production to ensure the reliability and functionality of electronic devices.

Questions about Electromagnetic Shielding: 1. How does electromagnetic shielding help in reducing EMI interference? Electromagnetic shielding works by blocking or absorbing electromagnetic radiation, preventing it from interfering with electronic equipment. 2. What are the key components of electromagnetic shielding? The key components include a layer of metal, like aluminum foil, and a layer of thermoplastic polymer fabric with apertures for effective EMI attenuation.

Original Abstract Submitted

Described herein is electromagnetic shielding that is configured to attenuate electromagnetic interference (EMI) by at least a threshold amount when the EMI has a frequency within a predefined frequency range. The electromagnetic shielding includes a layer of metal, such as aluminum foil, and a layer of thermoplastic polymer fabric (such as woven polyethylene fabric), where the electromagnetic shielding has several apertures that extend therethrough. The electromagnetic shielding is at least partially draped over electronic equipment that is to be shielded from EMI.
