Force Canceling Speaker - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18581862 titled 'Force Canceling Speaker
The speaker system described in the patent application uses a single driver that cancels both force and moment, suitable for mounting within a structure like a head-mounted display.
- The speaker system includes a first moving mass with a sound-producing diaphragm connected to a floating basket via a primary suspension.
- The floating basket is coupled to a second moving mass controlling a voice coil that induces movement to produce sound through the diaphragm.
- A secondary suspension connects the suspended basket to a fixed frame, reducing shaking and contamination from the magnet core/motor assembly.
- The secondary suspension prevents these disturbances from seeping into the fixed frame and other connected components.
Potential Applications: - Head-mounted displays - Virtual reality systems - Augmented reality devices
Problems Solved: - Minimizing vibrations and contamination in speaker systems - Enhancing sound quality in compact devices
Benefits: - Improved audio performance - Reduced interference from external factors - Enhanced user experience in immersive technologies
Commercial Applications: Title: Innovative Speaker System for Immersive Technologies This technology can be utilized in head-mounted displays, virtual reality headsets, and other immersive devices to provide high-quality sound without interference.
Prior Art: Research on speaker systems in compact devices and immersive technologies can provide insights into similar solutions.

Questions about the Innovative Speaker System: 1. How does the secondary suspension in the speaker system prevent contamination and shaking? The secondary suspension in the speaker system helps reduce disturbances caused by the magnet core/motor assembly, preventing them from affecting other components.
2. What are the potential applications of this speaker system beyond head-mounted displays? The speaker system can also be used in virtual reality systems, augmented reality devices, and other immersive technologies to enhance audio performance and user experience.
Original Abstract Submitted
Aspects of the present disclosure are directed to a speaker system that uses a single driver that results in both force and moment canceling. The speaker system can be mounted within a structure, such as a head mounted display. The speaker system includes a first moving mass, including a sound-producing diaphragm, connected by a primary suspension to a floating basket. The floating basket is both coupled to a second moving mass that controls a voice coil, inducing voice coil movement to produce sound via the diaphragm. A secondary suspension can couple the suspended basket and a fixed frame. The secondary suspension can reduce shaking and contamination generated by the magnet core/motor assembly from seeping into the fixed frame and subsequently to other connected components.
