TIRE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18579935 titled 'TIRE

Simplified Explanation: The patent application describes a tire with a meandering groove on the tread surface that varies in width along the tire's circumference. The groove walls follow a sinusoidal pattern with a specific phase difference.

Key Features and Innovation:

  • Meandering groove with varying width along the tire circumference
  • Groove walls follow a sinusoidal pattern with a specific phase difference
  • Ratio of maximum and minimum groove widths falls within a specific range

Potential Applications: This technology could be used in the manufacturing of high-performance tires for various vehicles, including cars, trucks, and motorcycles.

Problems Solved: This innovation addresses the need for improved traction and performance in tires by optimizing the design of the tread surface.

Benefits:

  • Enhanced traction and performance
  • Improved handling and stability
  • Potential for increased fuel efficiency

Commercial Applications: The technology could be utilized by tire manufacturers to produce advanced tires for sports cars, off-road vehicles, and other high-performance applications, potentially capturing a niche market segment.

Prior Art: Readers interested in prior art related to this technology could explore patents and research papers in the field of tire design, specifically focusing on tread patterns and groove configurations.

Frequently Updated Research: Researchers in the field of tire technology may be conducting studies on the impact of groove design on tire performance and safety, which could provide valuable insights into the development of this innovation.

Questions about Tire Groove Design: 1. How does the meandering groove design impact the overall performance of the tire? 2. What are the potential challenges in manufacturing tires with such intricate groove patterns?

Original Abstract Submitted

Provided in this disclosure is a tire with a meandering groove extending along tire circumferential direction formed on a tread surface, wherein the meandering groove has a groove width in tire width direction that varies at a predetermined repetitive cycle along the tire circumferential direction, ratio of the maximum and minimum widths of the groove width, Wmin/Wmax, is 0.35 to 0.85, a first groove wall and a second groove wall, which are both groove walls of the meandering groove, meander and extend in a sinusoidal manner with the predetermined repetition cycle as one cycle length in a tread surface view, and in the tread surface view, a first sinusoidal curve formed by the first groove wall and a second sinusoidal curve formed by the second groove wall are arranged with a phase difference of 1/8 to 3/8 cycle in the tire circumferential direction.
