DISPLAY APPARATUS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18575967 titled 'DISPLAY APPARATUS

The abstract describes a display apparatus with high display quality, consisting of two light-emitting devices and a first insulating layer. The first light-emitting device includes a first pixel electrode, a first EL layer, and a common electrode, while the second light-emitting device includes a second pixel electrode and a second EL layer.

  • The display apparatus features two adjacent light-emitting devices and a first insulating layer.
  • The first light-emitting device has a thinner pixel electrode and a thicker EL layer compared to the second light-emitting device.
  • The first insulating layer is in contact with the side surfaces of both EL layers.
  • The common electrode is positioned over the EL layers and the first insulating layer.

Potential Applications: - High-quality display screens for electronic devices - Advanced display technology for televisions and monitors

Problems Solved: - Improved display quality and brightness - Enhanced durability and longevity of display screens

Benefits: - Crisp and vibrant display output - Energy-efficient design - Long-lasting performance

Commercial Applications: Title: Advanced Display Technology for Enhanced Visual Experience This technology can be utilized in the manufacturing of smartphones, tablets, laptops, televisions, and other electronic devices to provide users with a superior visual experience. The market implications include increased demand for high-quality display screens in the consumer electronics industry.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does the thickness difference between the pixel electrodes affect the display quality? - The thickness difference helps optimize the brightness and overall performance of the display. 2. What are the key advantages of having a common electrode over the EL layers? - The common electrode helps improve the efficiency and uniformity of the light emission in the display apparatus.

Original Abstract Submitted

A display apparatus with high display quality is provided. The display apparatus includes a first light-emitting device and a second light-emitting device adjacent to each other and a first insulating layer. The first light-emitting device includes a first pixel electrode, a first EL layer over the first pixel electrode, and a common electrode over the first EL layer and the first insulating layer. The second light-emitting device includes a second pixel electrode, a second EL layer over the second pixel electrode, and the common electrode over the second EL layer and the first insulating layer. The first insulating layer is in contact with a side surface of the first EL layer and a side surface of the second EL layer. The thickness of the first pixel electrode is smaller than the thickness of the second pixel electrode and the thickness of the first EL layer is larger than the thickness of the second EL layer.
