BREATHING PATTERN EXTRACTION - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18574975 titled 'BREATHING PATTERN EXTRACTION
The patent application describes a system, method, and computer-readable medium for extracting breathing pattern data from ultrasound images to assist in clinical patient management by detecting trigger events indicative of breathing patterns.
- The system can detect trigger events from audio-based or image-based sources in an ultrasound video stream.
- It identifies breathing patterns in the video stream in response to trigger event detection.
- The system extracts breathing-related parameters and generates a record with this data.
Potential Applications: This technology could be used in medical settings to monitor and analyze patients' breathing patterns for diagnostic and treatment purposes.
Problems Solved: This innovation addresses the need for non-invasive methods to track and analyze breathing patterns in real-time for clinical decision-making.
Benefits: The system provides healthcare professionals with valuable data on patients' breathing patterns, potentially leading to more accurate diagnoses and personalized treatment plans.
Commercial Applications: This technology could be integrated into ultrasound machines used in hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare facilities to enhance patient care and improve clinical outcomes.
Questions about the Technology: 1. How does this system differentiate between various types of trigger events in ultrasound video streams? 2. What are the potential limitations of using ultrasound images to extract breathing pattern data compared to other methods?
Frequently Updated Research: Researchers are continually exploring new algorithms and techniques to improve the accuracy and efficiency of extracting breathing pattern data from ultrasound images.
Original Abstract Submitted
A system, method, and computer-readable medium are disclosed for extracting breathing pattern data from ultrasound images for aiding downstream clinical patient management, including detecting a trigger event indicative of a breathing pattern from at least one of an audio-based trigger and an image-based trigger from an ultrasound video stream. The presently disclosed technique may further include identifying a breathing pattern in the ultrasound video stream responsive to detection of the trigger event. The presently disclosed technique may also include extraction of at least one breathing-related parameter and the generation of a record with the at least one breathing-related parameter.
