METHOD FOR ROLLING AN ELECTRICALLY DRIVEN VEHICLE INTO A PARKING LOCK DEVICE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18565819 titled 'METHOD FOR ROLLING AN ELECTRICALLY DRIVEN VEHICLE INTO A PARKING LOCK DEVICE

The invention described in the abstract is a method for rolling an electrically driven vehicle into a parking lock device from a position where a pawl is prevented from locking a parking lock gear.

  • The method involves biasing a biasing spring with an actuator when the parking lock device is activated.
  • The position of a parking lock gear is identified and sent to a control unit through position sensing.
  • The angle of rotation of the rotor shaft of an electric motor needed to reach the nearest tooth space of the parking lock gear is determined.
  • The electric motor is then activated to sweep the determined angle of rotation and approach the closest tooth space in a controlled manner.

Potential Applications: - This method can be used in electric vehicles to securely park them in place. - It can be implemented in automated parking systems to ensure precise positioning of vehicles.

Problems Solved: - Ensures accurate and controlled parking of electric vehicles. - Prevents the vehicle from rolling unintentionally when parked.

Benefits: - Enhanced safety and security in parking electric vehicles. - Efficient and precise parking without manual intervention.

Commercial Applications: Automotive industry: This technology can be integrated into electric vehicles and automated parking systems to improve parking accuracy and safety.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does the method ensure precise positioning of the electric vehicle in the parking lock device? 2. What are the potential cost implications of implementing this technology in electric vehicles?

Original Abstract Submitted

The invention relates to a method for rolling an electrically driven vehicle () into a parking lock device () from a position in which a pawl () is prevented from locking a parking lock gear (). When the parking lock device () is activated, a biasing spring () is biased by an actuator (). A position, identified by position sensing (), of a parking lock gear () accommodated in a rotationally fixed manner is then sent to a control unit (). Subsequently, an angle of rotation of the rotor shaft () of an electric motor () which is required to reach the nearest tooth space () of an outer toothing () of the parking lock gear () is determined. The electric motor () is then activated in order for the determined angle of rotation to be swept and a controlled approach to be made to the position of the determined closest tooth space (). The invention further relates to the use of the method for rolling an electrically driven vehicle () into a parking lock device () from a position in which a pawl () is prevented from locking a parking lock gear ().
