A power inverter is described that includes an input for connection to a DC voltage, a first switch, a second switch, and a controller for controlling the switches. Each of the switches is connected between the input and ground. The power inverter further includes a first network and a second network. The first network is connected at one end to the first switch and at another end to the second switch. The first network includes a capacitor, an inductor and a capacitor connected in series. The second network is connected at one end to an end of the first network and at another end to the other end of the first network. The second network includes a first sub-network, an output capacitor, and a second sub-network connected in series, where each of the sub-networks includes a capacitor and an inductor connected in series. A pair of outputs are then connected across the output capacitor.
