GENERATING A UCI BIT SEQUENCE FOR CSI REPORTING UNDER MULTI-TRP TRANSMISSION - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18563077 titled 'GENERATING A UCI BIT SEQUENCE FOR CSI REPORTING UNDER MULTI-TRP TRANSMISSION

The patent application describes apparatuses, methods, and systems for generating a UCI bit sequence for CSI reporting under multi-TRP transmission.

  • The apparatus includes a transceiver that receives a CSI reporting setting associated with CSI resource settings and NZP CSI-RS resources for channel measurement.
  • A processor generates a CSI report comprising CSI corresponding to different indicator types, each representing transmission hypotheses.
  • The CSI report includes segments with ordered values of the indicator types for each transmission hypothesis.

Potential Applications:

  • This technology can be applied in wireless communication systems to improve channel state information reporting accuracy.
  • It can enhance the performance of multi-antenna systems by optimizing transmission strategies based on CSI feedback.

Problems Solved:

  • Addressing the challenge of efficiently reporting channel state information in multi-TRP transmission scenarios.
  • Improving the reliability and accuracy of CSI feedback for optimizing transmission strategies.

Benefits:

  • Enhanced performance and efficiency in multi-antenna communication systems.
  • Improved signal quality and data transmission rates based on accurate CSI feedback.

Commercial Applications:

  • This technology has commercial applications in 5G and beyond wireless communication systems, IoT devices, and smart infrastructure development.

Questions about the Technology: 1. How does this technology improve the efficiency of channel state information reporting in multi-TRP transmission scenarios? 2. What are the potential implications of using this technology in optimizing transmission strategies for multi-antenna systems?

Frequently Updated Research: Ongoing research in this field focuses on further optimizing the generation and utilization of CSI feedback in advanced wireless communication systems.

Original Abstract Submitted

Apparatuses, methods, and systems are disclosed for generating a UCI bit sequence for CSI reporting under multi-TRP transmission. An apparatus () includes a transceiver () that receives a channel state information (“CSI”) reporting setting associated with one or more CSI resource settings, and one or more non-zero power (“NZP”) CSI reference signal (“CSI-RS”) resources for channel measurement transmitted from one or more transmission points in the network. The apparatus () includes a processor () that generates a CSI report comprising CSI corresponding to at least a subset of CSI indicator types, each CSI indicator type corresponding to at least one transmission hypothesis of a joint transmission hypothesis, a first single-point transmission hypothesis, and a second single-point transmission hypothesis, and at least one segment comprising values of the subset of the CSI indicator types that are ordered in an order of at least one transmission hypothesis.
