CONNECTION RESTRICTION FOR MOVING STATION - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18562106 titled 'CONNECTION RESTRICTION FOR MOVING STATION

The patent application describes a communication control apparatus for a moving station that can communicate with a communication device.

  • The apparatus includes a processor that identifies a moving communication device that moves with the station and restricts its connection with a communication cell as the station passes.
  • The moving station has a communication-device functional unit that acts as a communication device to the base station, and a base-station functional unit that acts as a base station to a communication device it can communicate with.
  • The moving station is an IAB (Integrated Access and Backhaul) node, with the communication-device functional unit as a MT (Mobile Termination) and the base-station functional unit as a DU (Distributed Unit).

Potential Applications:

  • This technology can be used in mobile communication systems to manage connections between moving stations and communication devices.
  • It can be applied in transportation systems to ensure seamless communication between vehicles and base stations.

Problems Solved:

  • The technology addresses the challenge of maintaining stable connections between moving stations and communication devices as they pass through different communication cells.
  • It helps prevent disruptions in communication due to handovers between cells.

Benefits:

  • Improved reliability and stability of communication for moving stations.
  • Enhanced efficiency in managing connections between mobile devices and base stations.

Commercial Applications:

  • This technology can be valuable in the development of smart transportation systems, IoT networks, and mobile communication infrastructure.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does the apparatus identify and restrict the connection of moving communication devices? 2. What are the specific functions of the communication-device functional unit and the base-station functional unit in the moving station?

Original Abstract Submitted

A communication control apparatus concerning a moving station capable of communicating with a communication device has at least one processor that performs: by a moving communication device identification unit, identifying a moving communication device that moves with the moving station; and by a connection restriction unit, restricting a connection of the moving communication device with a communication cell where the moving station passes. The moving station comprises a communication-device functional unit that functions as a communication device to the base station, and a base-station functional unit that functions as a base station to a communication device with which the moving station can communicate. The moving station is an IAB (Integrated Access and Backhaul) node, the communication-device functional unit is a MT (Mobile Termination), and the base-station functional unit is a DU (Distributed Unit).
