ENHANCEMENTS ON SMALL DATA TRANSMISSION - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18560426 titled 'ENHANCEMENTS ON SMALL DATA TRANSMISSION

The abstract of this patent application describes methods and devices for small data transmission (SDT) that improve communication efficiency and network performance.

  • First device determines target resource based on logical channel restrictions for SDT
  • Transmits data to second device on target resource
  • Enhances isolation of services through specific resource selection
  • Improves communication efficiency and network performance

Potential Applications: - Wireless communication systems - Internet of Things (IoT) devices - Mobile networks

Problems Solved: - Efficient small data transmission - Improved network performance - Better isolation of services

Benefits: - Enhanced communication efficiency - Improved network performance - Optimized resource selection

Commercial Applications: - Telecom companies - IoT device manufacturers - Network infrastructure providers

Questions about Small Data Transmission: 1. How does logical channel restriction improve the SDT procedure?

  - Logical channel restrictions help in better resource selection for data transmission.

2. What are the key benefits of using SDT for small data transmission?

  - SDT improves communication efficiency and network performance.

Original Abstract Submitted

Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to methods, devices, apparatuses, and computer readable medium for small data transmission (SDT). A first device, in response to first data to be transmitted via a SDT corresponding to a first set of resources for a random access procedure and a second set of resources for a configured grant procedure, determine a target resource for at least a part of the first data based on a logical channel restriction on the SDT; and transmit, to a second device, at least the part of the first data on the target resource. In this way, the SDT procedure can be performed with logical channel restrictions, which allows a better isolation of services through specific resource selection. The communication efficiency and network performance can also be improved.
