VACUUM CIRCUIT BREAKER - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18560235 titled 'VACUUM CIRCUIT BREAKER

The abstract describes a vacuum circuit breaker comprising multiple vacuum valves connected in series within a cylindrical tank.

  • Each vacuum valve consists of a cylindrical vacuum container, a fixed electrode inside the container, a movable conductor protruding from the container, and a movable electrode that moves with the conductor.
  • The movable electrode can separate from the fixed electrode and make contact with it, allowing for circuit interruption.
  • The tank houses the vacuum valves, with at least two valves positioned adjacent to each other in a direction perpendicular to the tank's center axis.
  • This design allows for efficient and reliable circuit breaking in electrical systems.
  • The vacuum technology used in this circuit breaker offers advantages such as high dielectric strength, low maintenance, and long operational life.

Potential Applications: - Power distribution systems - Industrial machinery - Renewable energy systems

Problems Solved: - Ensures safe and reliable interruption of electrical circuits - Minimizes maintenance requirements compared to traditional circuit breakers

Benefits: - Enhanced safety in electrical systems - Increased operational efficiency - Long-term cost savings due to reduced maintenance needs

Commercial Applications: Title: "Advanced Vacuum Circuit Breaker Technology for Enhanced Electrical Safety" This technology can be utilized in various industries such as power generation, manufacturing, and infrastructure development to improve electrical system safety and efficiency.

Questions about Vacuum Circuit Breaker Technology: 1. How does the vacuum technology used in this circuit breaker improve safety in electrical systems? - The vacuum technology provides high dielectric strength, reducing the risk of electrical arcing and ensuring reliable circuit interruption.

2. What are the key advantages of using vacuum valves in a circuit breaker compared to other types of circuit interruption technologies? - Vacuum valves offer low maintenance requirements, long operational life, and high reliability in interrupting electrical circuits.

Original Abstract Submitted

A vacuum circuit breaker includes: a plurality of vacuum valves each of which includes: a cylindrical vacuum container; a fixed electrode fixed inside the vacuum container; a movable conductor that protrudes from the inside of the vacuum container to the outside of the vacuum container and is movable in a direction of a center axis of the vacuum container; and a movable electrode that moves together with the movable conductor inside the vacuum container to be capable of being separated from the fixed electrode and coming into contact with the fixed electrode, the plurality of vacuum valves being connected in series with each other; and a cylindrical tank that accommodates the plurality of vacuum valves. The plurality of vacuum valves include at least two vacuum valves adjacent to each other in a direction intersecting a center axis of the tank.
