IAB MULTI-PARENT UPLINK-DOWNLINK ALIGNMENT - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18559888 titled 'IAB MULTI-PARENT UPLINK-DOWNLINK ALIGNMENT

The abstract describes a method performed by an integrated access and backhaul (IAB) node in dual connectivity, where an IAB-MT is connected to two IAB parents and two IAB donors. The method involves obtaining a semi-static flexible resource configuration from an IAB donor, obtaining uplink/downlink resource indications from two IAB parents, determining conflicts between the resource indications, selecting one based on parent priorities, and communicating with the parents accordingly.

  • Obtaining a semi-static flexible resource configuration from an IAB donor
  • Obtaining uplink/downlink resource indications from two IAB parents
  • Determining conflicts between the resource indications
  • Selecting one resource indication based on parent priorities
  • Communicating with the parents based on the selected resource indication

Potential Applications: - Wireless communication networks - Mobile broadband services - Internet of Things (IoT) connectivity

Problems Solved: - Efficient resource allocation in dual connectivity scenarios - Minimizing conflicts in resource indications - Optimizing communication between IAB nodes and parents

Benefits: - Enhanced network performance - Improved reliability and stability - Better utilization of resources

Commercial Applications: Title: "Optimized Resource Allocation for Dual Connectivity in Wireless Networks" This technology can be utilized by telecommunications companies to enhance the performance and reliability of their wireless networks, providing better services to customers and improving overall network efficiency.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does this method improve resource allocation in dual connectivity scenarios? 2. What are the key factors considered when selecting a resource indication based on parent priorities?

Original Abstract Submitted

According to some embodiments, a method is performed by an integrated access and backhaul (IAB) node in dual connectivity where an IAB-MT is connected to two IAB parents and two IAB donors. The method comprises: obtaining () a semi-static flexible resource configuration from an IAB donor; obtaining () a first uplink/downlink resource indication for a semi-statically configured flexible resource from a first IAB parent and a second uplink/downlink resource indication from a second IAB parent; obtaining () a priority associated with the first IAB parent and a priority associated with the second IAB parent; determining () the first and second uplink/downlink resource indications conflict; selecting () one of the first and second uplink/downlink resource indications based on the priority associated with the first and second IAB parents; and communicating () with the two IAB parents according to the selected uplink/downlink resource indication.
