ESTABLISHING INTERNET PROTOCOL MULTIMEDIA SUBSYSTEM SERVICES IN A CELLULAR NETWORK - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18557663 titled 'ESTABLISHING INTERNET PROTOCOL MULTIMEDIA SUBSYSTEM SERVICES IN A CELLULAR NETWORK

Simplified Explanation: The patent application describes a user equipment device in a wireless communication system that can establish an Internet Protocol Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) service. The device sends preconditions to the IMS network before transmitting service packets over a dedicated or default data radio bearer.

  • The user equipment device can establish an IMS service with an IMS network.
  • The device sends preconditions to the IMS network before transmitting service packets.
  • Service packets are transmitted over a dedicated data radio bearer or a default data radio bearer based on the satisfaction of preconditions.

Key Features and Innovation:

  • User equipment device configured to establish IMS service.
  • Precondition specification before transmitting service packets.
  • Selection of data radio bearer based on precondition satisfaction.

Potential Applications: This technology can be applied in various wireless communication systems to enhance the establishment of IMS services efficiently.

Problems Solved: This technology addresses the need for efficient establishment of IMS services in wireless communication systems.

Benefits:

  • Improved efficiency in establishing IMS services.
  • Enhanced user experience in wireless communication.

Commercial Applications: Potential commercial applications include telecommunications companies, network equipment providers, and mobile device manufacturers looking to optimize IMS service establishment in their products and services.

Prior Art: Readers can explore prior art related to IMS services, wireless communication systems, and data radio bearers to understand the background of this technology.

Frequently Updated Research: Researchers may find updated studies on IMS services, wireless communication technologies, and data transmission protocols relevant to this innovation.

Questions about IMS Services: 1. What are the key benefits of using IMS services in wireless communication systems? 2. How does the selection of a data radio bearer impact the efficiency of establishing IMS services?

Original Abstract Submitted

A user equipment (UE) device of a wireless communication system is configured to establish an Internet Protocol Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) service. The UE device initiates an IMS service with an IMS network. Responsive to initiating the IMS service, the UE device sends a message to the IMS network specifying one or more preconditions for establishing the IMS service. The UE device selectively transmits one or more service packets for the IMS service over either a dedicated data radio bearer configured for the IMS service or a default data radio bearer based on whether at least one of the one or more preconditions has not been satisfied.
