METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR MULTICAST SESSION SIGNALING IN WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18557192 titled 'METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR MULTICAST SESSION SIGNALING IN WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

The abstract describes a method for multicast session notification signaling and procedure in a wireless network by a User Equipment (UE).

  • Receiving a signal related to a Multicast and Broadcast Service (MBS) session in a Radio Resource Control (RRC) connected state.
  • Monitoring a message for a group notification related to at least one MBS session on a Physical Downlink Control Channel (PDCCH).
  • Identifying a Temporary Mobile Group Identity (TMGI) indicating the MBS session included in the paging message.
  • Forwarding the identified TMGI to an upper layer.

Potential Applications: - This technology can be applied in wireless networks to efficiently manage multicast sessions for improved user experience. - It can be utilized in streaming services, live broadcasts, and other content delivery platforms to enhance the delivery of content to multiple users simultaneously.

Problems Solved: - Efficiently managing multicast sessions in wireless networks. - Seamless transition between different Radio Resource Control states for multicast session participation.

Benefits: - Improved user experience in multicast and broadcast services. - Enhanced network efficiency in handling multicast session notifications.

Commercial Applications: - Telecom companies can integrate this technology into their networks to optimize multicast session management. - Content delivery platforms can use this technology to enhance the delivery of live broadcasts and streaming services.

Questions about Multicast Session Notification Signalling and Procedure in Wireless Network: 1. How does this technology improve the efficiency of multicast session management in wireless networks? 2. What are the potential implications of this technology for content delivery platforms and streaming services?

Original Abstract Submitted

Embodiments herein provide method for multicast session notification signalling and procedure in wireless network () by UE (). In an embodiment, the method includes receiving a signal related with a multicast and broadcast service (MBS) session in a radio resource control (RRC) connected state; in case that the UE () transits from the RRC connected state to one of a RRC idle state or a RRC inactive state and determines to join in at least one MBS session, monitoring a message for a group notification related with the at least one MBS session on a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH); based on a detection of the paging message, identifying a temporary mobile group identity (TMGI) indicating one of the at least one MBS session included in the paging message; and forwarding the identified TMGI to an upper layer.
