MOBILE TERMINAL - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18555807 titled 'MOBILE TERMINAL

The mobile terminal described in the patent application consists of a first frame and a second frame that slides in a first direction to switch to an extended mode. The second frame includes a ground metal, a first side metal, and a second side metal. The display part has a fixed portion attached to the front surface of the first frame and a variable portion bent around the second frame. A rolling hinge, made of conductive material, is connected to the rear surface of the variable portion, and a ground pin is coupled to the rolling hinge. In the extended mode, the ground pin contacts the ground metal to electrically connect the rolling hinge to the ground metal.

  • The mobile terminal has a sliding second frame with ground metal and side metals.
  • The display part includes a fixed portion on the first frame and a variable portion bent around the second frame.
  • A rolling hinge made of conductive material is connected to the variable portion.
  • A ground pin is coupled to the rolling hinge to connect it electrically to the ground metal in the extended mode.

Potential Applications: - This technology could be used in smartphones, tablets, or other portable electronic devices. - It may find applications in foldable or flexible display screens.

Problems Solved: - Enables seamless switching between different modes of the mobile terminal. - Ensures electrical connection between components in the extended mode.

Benefits: - Enhanced user experience with a versatile mobile terminal design. - Improved durability and functionality of the device.

Commercial Applications: Title: Innovative Mobile Terminal Design for Enhanced User Experience This technology could revolutionize the design of mobile devices, attracting tech-savvy consumers looking for cutting-edge features. The market implications include increased demand for devices with flexible and adaptable displays.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does the sliding second frame improve the functionality of the mobile terminal? 2. What advantages does the use of a rolling hinge bring to the design of the display part?

Original Abstract Submitted

Provided is a mobile terminal comprising: a first frame; a second frame which slidingly moves with respect to the first frame in a first direction to switch to an extended mode and includes a ground metal, a first side metal, and a second side metal; a display part which includes a fixed portion coupled to the front surface of the first frame and a variable portion bent to surround the second frame; a rolling hinge which is coupled to the rear surface of the variable portion and comprises a conductive material; and a ground pin which is coupled to the rolling hinge, wherein the ground pin is brought into contact with the ground metal in the extended mode to electrically connect the rolling hinge to the ground metal.
