Mobile Device Assisted Active Noise Control - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18555181 titled 'Mobile Device Assisted Active Noise Control

The present disclosure describes systems and methods for generating and transmitting, or applying, a noise profile based on the environment a host device is operating in. The host device collects data from sensors, location information, and device information to determine the environment it is in. A noise profile generator then creates a noise profile based on this information, which defines gains to be applied to audio signals being output to the user.

  • Sensors such as pressure, temperature, light, location, or humidity sensors are used to gather data about the environment.
  • Location information includes data from a global positioning system and connectivity signals like multicast DNS and Bluetooth broadcast.
  • Device information may consist of schedule data and device state information.
  • The data from sensors, location information, and device information are aggregated to determine the operating environment of the host device.
  • The noise profile generator uses this information to create a noise profile that adjusts audio signals for the user.

Potential Applications: - Personalized audio experiences in different environments - Noise cancellation in headphones or speakers - Adaptive sound systems in smart devices

Problems Solved: - Providing optimal audio quality based on the surrounding environment - Enhancing user experience by adjusting audio output accordingly

Benefits: - Improved audio performance in various settings - Customized sound profiles for different locations - Enhanced user comfort and convenience

Commercial Applications: Title: Adaptive Noise Profile Technology for Enhanced Audio Experiences This technology can be utilized in smart speakers, headphones, mobile devices, and home entertainment systems to deliver tailored audio experiences based on the environment.

Prior Art: Prior research may include studies on adaptive audio systems and noise cancellation technologies in consumer electronics.

Frequently Updated Research: Stay updated on advancements in sensor technology, audio signal processing, and adaptive sound systems for potential improvements in noise profile generation.

Questions about Noise Profile Generation: 1. How does the noise profile generator determine the gains to be applied to audio signals? 2. What are the key factors considered in creating a noise profile for different environments?

Original Abstract Submitted

The present disclosure provides systems and methods for generating and transmitting, or applying, a noise profile based on a determined environment a host device is operating in. The host device may receive data from one or more sensors, location information, and/or device information. The sensors may include a pressure, temperature, light, location, or humidity sensor. The location information may include data from a global positioning system and/or connectivity signals, such as multicast DNS and/or Bluetooth broadcast. Device information may include schedule data and/or device state information. The data from one or more sensors, the location information, and/or the device information may be aggregated to determine the environment in which the host device is operating in. Based on the determined environment, a noise profile generator may generate a noise profile. The noise profile may define gains to be applied to audio signals being output to the user.
