Original Abstract Submitted

The present disclosure relates to a 5-generation (5G) or 6-generation (6G) communication system for supporting a higher data transmission rate. A method performed by a user equipment (UE) in a wireless communication system is provided. The method may include: receiving, from a base station (BS), configuration information for a multi-universal subscriber identity module (MUSIM) operation; receiving, from the BS, a radio resource control (RRC) release message including information indicating an RRC inactive mode; storing the received configuration information for the MUSIM operation, in response to the received RRC release message; and, when RRC connection resume is triggered, releasing the stored configuration information for the MUSIM operation.
