LIGHT DETECTION DEVICE AND ELECTRONIC DEVICE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18551173 titled 'LIGHT DETECTION DEVICE AND ELECTRONIC DEVICE

The patent application describes a light detection device that can reduce sensitivity differences between light of the same color.

  • Color filter layer with multiple color filters transmitting specific wavelengths of light focused by microlenses.
  • Low-refractive-index layer between color filters containing air or material with lower refractive index than adjacent layers.
  • Low-refractive-index layer has varying widths, wider on microlens side and narrower towards the substrate.
    • Potential Applications:**

This technology can be used in digital cameras, sensors, and other devices requiring accurate color detection.

    • Problems Solved:**

Addresses sensitivity variations in detecting light of the same color, leading to more precise color reproduction.

    • Benefits:**

Improved color accuracy, reduced sensitivity differences, enhanced image quality in various applications.

    • Commercial Applications:**

This technology can be applied in the development of high-quality cameras, scientific instruments, and color-sensitive devices for industries like photography, medical imaging, and manufacturing.

    • Prior Art:**

Researchers can explore prior patents related to color detection devices, microlenses, and refractive index layers for further insights into this technology.

    • Frequently Updated Research:**

Stay updated on advancements in microlens technology, color filter materials, and low-refractive-index layers for potential improvements in light detection devices.

    • Questions about Light Detection Devices:**

1. How does the low-refractive-index layer contribute to reducing sensitivity differences in color detection? 2. What are the key factors influencing the accuracy of color reproduction in devices using this technology?

Original Abstract Submitted

Provided is a light detection device capable of reducing an inter-same-color sensitivity difference Provided are: a color filter layer including a plurality of color filters each transmitting light of a predetermined wavelength component contained in light condensed by a microlens; and a low-refractive-index layer that is at least partially arranged between the color filters and contains air or a low-refractive-index material having a lower refractive index than a material of an adjacent layer. Then, the low-refractive-index layer has a first width on the microlens side and a second width, narrower than the first width, on a side closer to a substrate than a portion having the first width.
