IMAGE PROCESSING APPARATUS AND IMAGE PROCESSING METHOD - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18551071 titled 'IMAGE PROCESSING APPARATUS AND IMAGE PROCESSING METHOD

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes a patent application for a method of creating a display image by superimposing a virtual space image onto a real space image. This involves generating a virtual space image based on Computer Graphics (CG) data, aligning it with the imaging range of the real space, and then superimposing it onto the real space image obtained by imaging an object in that space.

  • Image generating section creates a virtual space image based on CG data.
  • Virtual imaging section corresponds to the imaging range of the real space.
  • CG object on the virtual space is imaged to generate the virtual space image.
  • Image superimposing section overlays the virtual space image onto the real space image to create the display image.

Unanswered Questions

How does this technology impact the field of interior design?

This technology could revolutionize the way interior designers visualize and present their designs to clients, but the specific implications are not discussed in the abstract.

What are the potential limitations of this technology in terms of image quality and processing power?

While the abstract describes the process of superimposing virtual images onto real images, it does not address any potential limitations such as image resolution or processing speed that could affect the quality of the final display image.

Original Abstract Submitted

A good display image is obtained by superimposing, on a real space image, a virtual space image suitable for the real space image. An image generating section generates, in reference to CG (Computer Graphics) data, a virtual space image corresponding to an imaging range of an imaging section on a real space. For example, a virtual imaging section is installed on a virtual space in a manner corresponding to the imaging section on the real space, and a CG object on the virtual space is imaged to generate a virtual space image. An image superimposing section superimposes the virtual space image on a real space image obtained by the imaging section imaging an object on the real space, to obtain a display image.
