RELIABLE GROUPCASTING IN WIRELESS COMMUNICATION NETWORKS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18547821 titled 'RELIABLE GROUPCASTING IN WIRELESS COMMUNICATION NETWORKS

The abstract of the patent application describes an apparatus that allows a wireless terminal to receive and transmit feedback related to the successful groupcast of a message.

  • The apparatus includes means for receiving a retransmission of a groupcast message from another wireless terminal.
  • It skips the transmission of feedback related to the reception of the retransmission.
  • The apparatus monitors feedback from a third wireless terminal regarding the reception of the retransmission.
  • It then transmits derived feedback related to the reception of the retransmission to the second wireless terminal.

Potential Applications: - This technology could be used in group communication settings where feedback on message reception is crucial. - It can enhance the reliability and efficiency of groupcast messaging systems.

Problems Solved: - Addressing the need for accurate feedback in groupcast messaging scenarios. - Improving the overall performance of wireless communication networks.

Benefits: - Enhanced communication reliability within groups. - Streamlined feedback processes for message reception. - Improved network efficiency and performance.

Commercial Applications: Title: Enhanced Group Communication Feedback System This technology could be utilized in industries such as emergency response, event coordination, and team collaboration software. It can improve communication reliability and efficiency in group settings, leading to better coordination and decision-making.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does this technology improve group communication feedback systems? - This technology enhances group communication feedback systems by allowing wireless terminals to efficiently transmit and receive feedback related to message reception within a groupcast scenario.

2. What are the potential implications of this technology in industries such as emergency response and event coordination? - This technology can significantly improve communication reliability and efficiency in critical industries like emergency response and event coordination, leading to better coordination and decision-making processes.

Original Abstract Submitted

According to an example aspect of the present invention, there is provided an apparatus comprising means for receiving, by a first wireless terminal, a first retransmission of a groupcast message successfully groupcast message successfully from a second wireless terminal, means for skipping, by the first wireless terminal, a transmission of feedback related to reception of the first retransmission at the first wireless terminal, means for monitoring, by the first wireless terminal, feedback from a third wireless terminal, wherein said feedback is related to reception of the first retransmission at the third wireless terminal and means for transmitting, by the first wireless terminal, derived feedback related to reception of the first retransmission at the third wireless terminal to the second wireless terminal.
