SHEET DISCHARGING DEVICE INCLUDING ELASTIC PIECES ARRANGED OFFSET FROM ROLLER BODY OF DISCHARGING ROLLER IN WIDTH DIRECTION - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18544724 titled 'SHEET DISCHARGING DEVICE INCLUDING ELASTIC PIECES ARRANGED OFFSET FROM ROLLER BODY OF DISCHARGING ROLLER IN WIDTH DIRECTION

The patent application describes a sheet discharging device that includes a discharging roller, elastic pieces, and a discharge tray. The discharging roller has a shaft and a roller body to convey sheets in a discharging direction. The elastic pieces protrude in the discharging direction, positioned upward relative to the shaft, and offset from the roller body in the width direction.

  • The discharging roller consists of a shaft and a roller body.
  • Elastic pieces protrude in the discharging direction and are positioned upward relative to the shaft.
  • Each elastic piece has a surface facing downward, with a portion directly above the shaft.
  • The elastic pieces include a first elastic piece with a bending portion towards the discharge tray, and second elastic pieces without a bending portion.
  • The first elastic piece and second elastic pieces are alternately arranged in the width direction.

Potential Applications: - Printing industry for paper handling - Packaging industry for material handling - Manufacturing industry for product conveyance

Problems Solved: - Prevents sheets from jamming during the discharging process - Ensures smooth and efficient sheet conveyance

Benefits: - Improved sheet discharging efficiency - Reduced risk of paper jams - Enhanced overall performance of the discharging device

Commercial Applications: Title: Enhanced Sheet Discharging Device for Industrial Use This technology can be utilized in various industries such as printing, packaging, and manufacturing for efficient sheet handling and conveyance, leading to increased productivity and reduced downtime.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does the arrangement of elastic pieces prevent paper jams in the discharging device? 2. What are the advantages of having a bending portion in the first elastic piece compared to the second elastic pieces?

Original Abstract Submitted

A sheet discharging device includes: a discharging roller, elastic pieces, and a discharge tray. The discharging roller includes: a shaft extending in a width direction, and a roller body configured to convey a sheet in a discharging direction. The elastic pieces protrude in the discharging direction and are arranged upward relative to the shaft and offset from the roller body in the width direction. Each elastic piece has a surface facing downward. The surface has a portion directly above the shaft. The portion is positioned downward relative to an upper end of the roller body while not contacting the sheet. The elastic pieces include: a first elastic piece including a bending portion bent toward the discharge tray, and second elastic pieces not including a bending portion bent toward the discharge tray. The first elastic piece and the second elastic pieces are alternately arranged in the width direction.
