Display Apparatus - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18542571 titled 'Display Apparatus

The display apparatus described in the patent application includes a display panel with sub-pixels and a bending area in the non-display area, along with two back plates and an adhesion assembly with a multilayer structure.

  • The display panel has a display area with sub-pixels and a bending area in the non-display area.
  • Two back plates are positioned under the display panel, spaced apart from each other.
  • An adhesion assembly attaches the back plates to the lower surface of the display panel with a multilayer structure of adhesive layers with different storage moduli.

Potential Applications: - This technology could be used in the manufacturing of flexible displays for various electronic devices. - It may find applications in curved or bendable screens for smartphones, tablets, and other gadgets.

Problems Solved: - The technology addresses the challenge of creating flexible displays that can withstand bending without damage. - It provides a solution for attaching back plates to display panels in a way that maintains flexibility.

Benefits: - Improved durability and flexibility of display panels. - Enhanced design possibilities for electronic devices with curved or bendable screens.

Commercial Applications: Flexible display technology could revolutionize the consumer electronics industry by enabling the production of innovative devices with curved or bendable screens. This could lead to increased consumer interest and market competitiveness for manufacturers.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does the multilayer structure of the adhesion assembly contribute to the flexibility of the display panel? 2. What are the potential challenges in mass-producing devices with flexible displays using this technology?

Original Abstract Submitted

There is disclosed a display apparatus including a display panel comprising a display area having a plurality of sub-pixels and a non-display area surrounding the display area and having a bending area; a first back plate and a second back plate disposed under the display panel and spaced apart from each other; and an adhesion assembly attaching the first back plate and the second back plate to a lower surface of the display panel. The adhesion assembly may have a multilayer structure in which a plurality of adhesive layers with different storage moduli are disposed.
