MULTIPLANE DATA TRANSFER COMMANDS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18542388 titled 'MULTIPLANE DATA TRANSFER COMMANDS

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes methods, systems, and devices for multiplane data transfer commands, focusing on optimizing read operations in memory systems by issuing a single transfer command for reading data stored across multiple planes of a non-volatile memory device.

  • Memory system determines to read data stored across a set of planes of a non-volatile memory device.
  • Sequence of the planes is known, allowing for optimized data transfer.
  • Memory system issues a single transfer command to transfer data from the set of planes, rather than one command per plane.

Key Features and Innovation

  • Optimization of read operations in memory systems.
  • Leveraging the sequential nature of read operations to issue a single transfer command for reading data across multiple planes.
  • Automatic switching from one plane to the next during data transfer.

Potential Applications

  • Memory systems in electronic devices.
  • Data storage systems.
  • Embedded systems.

Problems Solved

  • Streamlining read operations in memory systems.
  • Improving efficiency in data transfer processes.
  • Reducing the number of transfer commands required for reading data from multiple planes.

Benefits

  • Faster read operations.
  • Enhanced data transfer efficiency.
  • Simplified command management in memory systems.

Commercial Applications

The technology could find applications in various industries such as consumer electronics, data centers, and automotive systems. It can improve the performance and efficiency of memory systems, leading to better overall device performance and user experience.

Original Abstract Submitted

Methods, systems, and devices for multiplane data transfer commands are described. Implementations may provide a modified transfer command to leverage a sequential nature of a read operation. For example, a memory system may determine to read data stored across a set of planes of a non-volatile memory device and a sequence of the planes may be known. The memory system may issue a transfer command to a controller of the non-volatile memory device that supports automatic switching from one plane to the next in transferring data from the set of planes to a controller of the memory system. As a result, one transfer command may be issued by the memory system controller to transfer the data from the set of planes, for example, rather than one transfer command per plane.
