SYSTEM FOR ADJUSTING ORIENTATION OF 4D ULTRASOUND IMAGE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18538256 titled 'SYSTEM FOR ADJUSTING ORIENTATION OF 4D ULTRASOUND IMAGE

Simplified Explanation: The patent application describes a method for adjusting the orientation of a 4D ultrasound image by identifying anatomical features of interest and maintaining them at a target orientation in the image frames.

  • Acquiring 4D ultrasound data of a tissue
  • Processing the data to generate a 4D ultrasound image
  • Identifying anatomical features of interest and their current orientation
  • Adjusting the image to maintain the features at a target orientation
  • Ensuring the features are consistently oriented in the image frames

Potential Applications: This technology can be used in medical imaging for better visualization and analysis of anatomical structures in real-time.

Problems Solved: - Ensuring consistent orientation of anatomical features in ultrasound images - Improving accuracy and precision in medical imaging

Benefits: - Enhanced visualization of anatomical structures - Improved diagnostic capabilities - Better monitoring of tissue changes over time

Commercial Applications: The technology can be utilized in healthcare settings for obstetrics, cardiology, and other medical specialties requiring detailed imaging of tissues and organs.

Questions about 4D Ultrasound Image Orientation: 1. How does this technology improve the accuracy of ultrasound imaging? 2. What are the potential challenges in implementing this method in clinical practice?

Frequently Updated Research: Ongoing research in this field focuses on optimizing the algorithm for adjusting image orientation and exploring new applications in medical imaging.

Original Abstract Submitted

A method for adjusting an orientation of a 4D ultrasound image includes: acquiring 4D ultrasound data about a tissue to be imaged; processing the 4D ultrasound data to generate a 4D ultrasound image, the 4D ultrasound image including a plurality of image frames; identifying at least one anatomical feature of interest and a current orientation thereof; and adjusting the 4D ultrasound image, such that the at least one anatomical feature of interest is always maintained at a target orientation in the plurality of image frames. Further provided in the present application are a system for adjusting an orientation of a 4D ultrasound image and a non-transitory computer-readable medium.
