MULTIPLEXING OF HARQ AND CSI ON PUCCH - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18538157 titled 'MULTIPLEXING OF HARQ AND CSI ON PUCCH

Simplified Explanation

The present disclosure provides techniques for avoiding out of order uplink data reception upon data radio bearer (DRB) release or quality of service (QoS) flow addition.

  • An indication is received from a base station (BS) enabling multiplexing of hybrid automatic retransmission request (HARQ) information and channel state information (CSI) in all physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) resources.
  • A first CSI report is generated regarding a first downlink (DL) channel from the BS.
  • A HARQ response and the first CSI report are multiplexed in a PUCCH.
  • The PUCCH is transmitted to the BS via one of the PUCCH resources.

Potential Applications

This technology can be applied in wireless communication systems to improve the efficiency of uplink data transmission and reception.

Problems Solved

This technology solves the problem of out of order uplink data reception that may occur upon DRB release or QoS flow addition in wireless communication systems.

Benefits

The benefits of this technology include improved reliability and performance of uplink data transmission, leading to a better overall user experience in wireless communication systems.

Potential Commercial Applications

Potential commercial applications of this technology include use in 5G networks, IoT devices, and other wireless communication systems to enhance uplink data transmission efficiency.

Possible Prior Art

One possible prior art for this technology could be techniques for multiplexing HARQ information and CSI in uplink channels in wireless communication systems.

Unanswered Questions

How does this technology impact battery life in user equipment (UE)?

This technology may impact battery life in UE due to the additional processing required for multiplexing HARQ information and CSI in uplink channels. Further research is needed to determine the exact impact on battery life.

What are the potential security implications of multiplexing HARQ information and CSI in uplink channels?

The multiplexing of HARQ information and CSI in uplink channels may introduce security vulnerabilities in wireless communication systems. Further analysis is required to assess and address these potential security implications.

Original Abstract Submitted

Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for avoiding out of order uplink data reception upon data radio bearer (DRB) release or quality of service (QoS) flow addition. An exemplary method that may be performed by a user equipment (UE), includes receiving an indication from a base station (B S) that multiplexing of hybrid automatic retransmission request (HARQ) information and channel state information (CSI) is enabled in all physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) resources, generating a first CSI report regarding a first downlink (DL) channel from the BS, multiplexing a HARQ response to a transmission from the BS and the first CSI report in a PUCCH, and transmitting the PUCCH to the BS via one of the PUCCH resources.
