METHOD OF RELOADING CONSIGNMENTS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18536221 titled 'METHOD OF RELOADING CONSIGNMENTS

The invention pertains to a method for reloading consignments between logistics centers and end customers using large and small vehicles, with the small vehicle being electrically operated and having a smaller track width and load capacity than the large vehicle. The process involves reloading consignments between the large vehicle and the logistics center, traveling between the logistics center and a reloading location, transferring consignments between the large vehicle and a small vehicle at the reloading location, journeying of the small vehicle to the end customer, and reloading consignments between the small vehicle and the end customer.

  • Reloading consignments between large and small vehicles efficiently links urban end customers.
  • Small electrically operated vehicles with lower load capacity and smaller track width are used for last-mile delivery.
  • Reducing congestion and emissions in urban areas by utilizing smaller vehicles for final delivery.
  • Enhancing logistics operations by optimizing the use of large and small vehicles for consignment delivery.

Potential Applications: - Last-mile delivery services in urban areas - Logistics operations optimization for e-commerce companies - Sustainable transportation solutions for urban environments

Problems Solved: - Efficient and sustainable last-mile delivery in urban areas - Reduction of congestion and emissions from large delivery vehicles in cities

Benefits: - Improved efficiency in consignment delivery - Reduced environmental impact in urban areas - Cost-effective logistics operations

Commercial Applications: Title: Sustainable Last-Mile Delivery Solutions for Urban Logistics This technology can be utilized by logistics companies, e-commerce businesses, and delivery services to optimize last-mile delivery operations in urban areas, reducing congestion and emissions while improving efficiency.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does this method improve the efficiency of last-mile delivery operations? 2. What are the environmental benefits of using small electric vehicles for consignment delivery in urban areas?

Original Abstract Submitted

The invention relates to a method of reloading consignments, in the case of which consignments are transported between at least one logistics center and at least one end customer by means of at least one large vehicle and at least one small vehicle, which may be at least two-axle road vehicles, wherein the small vehicle is electrically operated and has a smaller track width and a lower load capacity than the large vehicle. In order to enable efficient logistical linking of end customers in urban areas, it is provided that at least the following steps may be carried out: reloading consignments between a large vehicle and the logistics center, performing a journey of the large vehicle between the logistics center and a reloading location, reloading consignments between the large vehicle and a small vehicle at the reloading location, performing a journey of the small vehicle between the reloading location and at least one end customer, and reloading consignments between the small vehicle and the at least one end customer.
