The light that has passed through the light guide section enters the liquid crystal layer. The partition section partitions the liquid crystal layer into plural pixel regions. The partition section includes plural scanning lines and plural black matrices arranged at intervals in an intersecting direction that intersects with a thickness direction of the light guide section. An image formed by the light emitted from the plural pixel regions is displayed on the display section. The diffraction section diffracts the plural lights that have entered the light guide section from the light source section.
