VEHICLE STOP HOLDING DEVICE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18526751 titled 'VEHICLE STOP HOLDING DEVICE

Simplified Explanation: The patent application describes a vehicle stop holding device with an Electronic Control Unit (ECU) that can take over control of the brake device if the backup control for holding the vehicle stop state cannot be achieved.

  • The ECU can take over control of the brake device if the driver is unable to hold the vehicle stop state.
  • It can also take over control if the driver does not respond within a grace period after the backup control cannot be realized.
  • This innovation ensures the safety of the vehicle and its occupants in case of emergency situations.

Key Features and Innovation:

  • ECU with takeover control capability.
  • Backup control for holding the vehicle stop state.
  • Detection of driver getting-off operation.
  • Grace period for driver response.
  • Enhanced safety features for vehicles.

Potential Applications: This technology can be applied in various vehicles, including cars, trucks, and buses, to improve safety and emergency response capabilities.

Problems Solved:

  • Ensures vehicle safety in emergency situations.
  • Prevents accidents due to driver incapacity.
  • Enhances control and response mechanisms in vehicles.

Benefits:

  • Improved safety for vehicle occupants.
  • Enhanced emergency response capabilities.
  • Reduces the risk of accidents and injuries.

Commercial Applications: The technology can be utilized by automotive manufacturers to enhance the safety features of their vehicles, potentially increasing consumer trust and market competitiveness.

Prior Art: Readers can explore prior patents related to vehicle safety systems, brake control mechanisms, and driver assistance technologies to understand the evolution of this innovation.

Questions about Vehicle Stop Holding Device: 1. How does the ECU determine when to take over control of the brake device? 2. What other safety features can be integrated with this technology to further enhance vehicle safety?

Original Abstract Submitted

The vehicle stop holding device that holds the stop of the vehicle and includes an ECU. The ECU configured to execute takeover control for taking over the operation of a brake device to a driver after the ECU stops the vehicle by the brake device in case where it is determined that the backup control for holding the stop state of the vehicle by a brake holding device cannot be realized and the getting-off operation by the driver is detected, and to execute takeover control after the ECU stops the vehicle by the brake device when a grace time required for the takeover control elapses from a reference time after a determination in case where it is determined that the backup control for holding the stop state of the vehicle by the brake holding device cannot be realized and the getting-off operation by the driver is not detected.
