DISPLAY DEVICE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18526109 titled 'DISPLAY DEVICE

The patent application describes a display panel that utilizes a light source section, a light guide section, a liquid crystal layer, a partition section, a display section, and a diffusion section.

  • The light source section emits red, green, and blue light.
  • Light emitted from the light source section enters the light guide section.
  • Red, green, and blue light pass through the light guide section and enter the liquid crystal layer.
  • The partition section divides the liquid crystal layer into multiple pixel regions.
  • An image formed by the red, green, and blue light from the pixel regions is displayed on the display section.
  • The diffusion section in the light guide section disperses the red, green, and blue light that enters it.

Potential Applications: - This technology can be used in high-resolution displays for televisions, monitors, and mobile devices. - It can also be applied in signage and advertising displays for vibrant and dynamic visuals.

Problems Solved: - Provides a method for displaying images with accurate color representation and brightness. - Enhances the viewing experience by ensuring uniform light distribution across the display.

Benefits: - Improved image quality with vivid colors and sharp details. - Energy-efficient design with optimized light utilization.

Commercial Applications: - This technology can be utilized in the consumer electronics industry for manufacturing advanced display panels. - It can also find applications in the digital signage market for creating eye-catching advertising displays.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does the diffusion section in the light guide section contribute to the overall display quality? 2. What are the advantages of partitioning the liquid crystal layer into pixel regions for image display?

Original Abstract Submitted

A display panel includes a light source section, a light guide section, a liquid crystal layer, a partition section, a display section, and a diffusion section. The light source section can emit red light, green light, and blue light. A light source light emitted from the light source section enters the light guide section. The red light, the green light, and the blue light that have passed through the light guide section enter the liquid crystal layer. The partition section partitions the liquid crystal layer into plural pixel regions. An image formed by the red light, the green light, and the blue light emitted from the pixel regions is displayed on the display section. The diffusion section is provided in the light guide section and diffuses the red light, the green light, and the blue light that have entered the light guide section into the light guide section.
