FLOOR SYSTEM FOR A CABIN OF A VEHICLE WITH FORM-FITTING FLOOR PANEL CONNECTION - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18520217 titled 'FLOOR SYSTEM FOR A CABIN OF A VEHICLE WITH FORM-FITTING FLOOR PANEL CONNECTION

Simplified Explanation

The patent application proposes a floor system for a vehicle cabin, including a floor panel, a seat rail with an installation surface, a base surface underneath the installation surface, and at least one recess between the installation surface and the base surface along the seat rail. The floor panel has a top surface, a bottom surface, and at least one connection edge with an undulating or serrated edge surface. The seat rail is designed to vertically clamp the floor panel inside the recess, which has an outward-facing lateral receiving surface complementary to the edge surface for a form-fit engagement.

Original Abstract Submitted

A floor system for a cabin of a vehicle is proposed, including a floor panel, a seat rail having an installation surface, a base surface underneath the installation surface at a distance thereto, and at least one recess between the installation surface and the base surface and extending along the seat rail. The floor panel has a top surface, a bottom surface and at least one connection edge extending between the top surface and the bottom surface. The seat rail is configured to vertically clamp the floor panel inside the at least one recess. The at least one connection edge has a continuously undulating or serrated edge surface. The at least one recess comprises an outward-facing lateral receiving surface that is at least partially complementary to the edge surface of the at least one connection edge to provide a form-fit engagement with the floor panel.
