DISPLAY DEVICE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18519941 titled 'DISPLAY DEVICE

The abstract describes a display device with two display regions separated by a boundary region, each region containing different types of pixels with varying transmittance levels.

  • The display device has a first display region with first pixels, a second display region with second pixels, and a boundary region between them.
  • The boundary region includes both first and second pixels, with the second pixels having higher transmittance levels than the first pixels.
  • Each set of pixels (first and second) has its own circuits for operation within the display device.

Potential Applications: - This technology could be used in high-resolution displays where different transmittance levels are required for optimal image quality. - It may find applications in electronic devices such as smartphones, tablets, and monitors.

Problems Solved: - Provides a solution for achieving different transmittance levels within a display device. - Enhances image quality and contrast by utilizing pixels with varying transmittance levels.

Benefits: - Improved image quality and contrast in display devices. - Enhanced viewing experience for users.

Commercial Applications: Title: Advanced Display Technology for Enhanced Image Quality This technology could be utilized in the development of high-end displays for consumer electronics, medical imaging devices, and professional monitors. The improved image quality and contrast offered by this display technology could attract customers looking for superior visual experiences.

Questions about Display Device Technology: 1. How does the use of pixels with varying transmittance levels impact the overall display quality? - The use of pixels with varying transmittance levels allows for enhanced contrast and image quality in the display device, resulting in a more visually appealing viewing experience.

2. What are the potential challenges in implementing this technology in different types of display devices? - Implementing this technology in various display devices may require adjustments to the design and manufacturing processes to ensure optimal performance and compatibility with different device specifications.

Original Abstract Submitted

A display device can include a first display region including a plurality of first pixels, a second display region including a plurality of second pixels, and a boundary region disposed between the first display region and the second display region. The boundary region includes the plurality of first pixels and the plurality of second pixels. Also, the plurality of first pixels respectively include a plurality of first pixel circuits, the plurality of second pixels respectively include a plurality of second pixel circuits, and a transmittance of each of the plurality of second pixel circuits is higher than a transmittance of each of the plurality of first pixel circuits.
