DISPLAY APPARATUS AND MANUFACTURING METHOD THEREOF - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18519128 titled 'DISPLAY APPARATUS AND MANUFACTURING METHOD THEREOF

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a display apparatus with a complex structure involving multiple layers and electrodes. Here is a simplified explanation of the patent:

  • The display apparatus includes a first sub-pixel electrode, a conductive bank layer with a first opening overlapping the first sub-pixel electrode, an insulating layer between the first sub-pixel electrode and the conductive bank layer, a first intermediate layer on the first sub-pixel electrode in the first opening, and a first counter electrode on the first intermediate layer in the first opening.
  • The conductive bank layer consists of three conductive layers stacked on top of each other.
  • The first counter electrode is wider than the first intermediate layer and directly contacts the conductive bank layer.

      1. Unanswered Questions
        1. How does this technology compare to existing display technologies in terms of cost-effectiveness?

The abstract does not mention anything about the cost implications of implementing this technology. Further research or analysis would be needed to determine the cost-effectiveness compared to other display technologies.

        1. What impact does the direct contact between the counter electrode and the conductive bank layer have on the overall performance of the display apparatus?

While the abstract mentions that the counter electrode is in direct contact with the conductive bank layer, it does not elaborate on the implications of this design choice. Additional testing or studies would be necessary to understand the effects on performance.

Original Abstract Submitted

A display apparatus includes a first sub-pixel electrode, a conductive bank layer including a first opening overlapping the first sub-pixel electrode in a plan view, an insulating layer between a peripheral portion of the first sub-pixel electrode and the conductive bank layer, a first intermediate layer disposed on the first sub-pixel electrode in the first opening of the conductive bank layer, and a first counter electrode disposed on the first intermediate layer in the first opening of the conductive bank layer. The conductive bank layer comprises a first conductive layer, a second conductive layer on the first conductive layer, and a third conductive layer on the second conductive layer. The first counter electrode has a width greater than a width of the first intermediate layer. The first counter electrode is in direct contact with the conductive bank layer.
