Robot - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18517418 titled 'Robot

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a robot with a unique cover design for the second arm, where the cover includes a cover main body and a covering section that protrudes downward to cover a portion of the arm base. The cover is designed to have different reflection properties on its outer surface and the side surface of the arm base.

  • The robot includes a base, a first arm rotatably connected to the base, and a second arm rotatably connected to the first arm.
  • The second arm has a cover with a cover main body and a covering section that covers part of the arm base.
  • The cover is designed to have different reflection properties on its outer surface and the side surface of the arm base.

Potential Applications

This technology could be applied in industrial robotic arms, medical robotic devices, and automated assembly lines.

Problems Solved

This innovation helps improve the visibility and detection of the robot's movements and positions in various environments.

Benefits

The unique cover design enhances the robot's safety, efficiency, and accuracy in performing tasks.

Potential Commercial Applications

  • "Innovative Cover Design for Robot Arms: Enhancing Safety and Efficiency in Industrial Automation"

Possible Prior Art

There may be prior art related to robotic arm covers or reflective surfaces used in robotics.

Unanswered Questions

How does the different reflection properties on the cover surfaces affect the robot's performance?

The patent application does not provide specific details on how the different reflection properties impact the robot's functionality and operation.

What materials are used to create the cover with distinct reflection properties?

The patent application does not mention the specific materials or coatings used to achieve the different reflection properties on the cover surfaces.

Original Abstract Submitted

A robot includes a base; a first arm rotatably connected to the base around a first rotation axis; and a second arm rotatably connected to the first arm around a second rotation axis parallel to the first rotation axis, wherein the second arm includes an arm base and a cover configured to attach to and detach from the arm base, the cover includes a cover main body that covers an upper portion of the arm base and a covering section that protrudes downward from the cover main body and that covers a portion of a side surface of the arm base, and when an outer surface of the covering section is defined as a first surface and a side surface not covered by the covering section among side surfaces of the arm base is defined as a second surface, at least one of wavelength of reflection light on the first surface and wavelength of reflection light on the second surface are different, or intensity of reflection light on the first surface and intensity of reflection light on the second surface are different.
