MEDICAL INFORMATION PROCESSING APPARATUS, MEDICAL INFORMATION PROCESSING METHOD, AND NON-TRANSITORY COMPUTER-READABLE STORAGE MEDIUM - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18516638 titled 'MEDICAL INFORMATION PROCESSING APPARATUS, MEDICAL INFORMATION PROCESSING METHOD, AND NON-TRANSITORY COMPUTER-READABLE STORAGE MEDIUM

Simplified Explanation

The medical information processing apparatus described in the abstract is designed to obtain and process medical images, then output the processing results to an image management server based on certain settings.

  • The obtaining unit of the apparatus obtains the processing result of an original medical image that has been processed externally.
  • The output unit of the apparatus outputs the processing result to the image management server based on a setting regarding whether to enable this output.
  • If an examination is not completed when the processing result is obtained, the output unit will wait until the end of the examination to send the processing result to the server.
  • If the examination is completed when the processing result is obtained, the output unit will send the processing result to the server at that time.

Potential Applications

This technology could be applied in medical facilities, hospitals, and clinics to streamline the process of managing and sharing medical images and processing results.

Problems Solved

This technology helps in efficiently managing and sharing medical images and processing results, reducing the risk of errors or delays in communication between healthcare providers.

Benefits

The benefits of this technology include improved communication between healthcare providers, faster access to processed medical images, and enhanced overall efficiency in medical image management.

Potential Commercial Applications

Potential commercial applications of this technology include selling the medical information processing apparatus to healthcare facilities, hospitals, and clinics looking to improve their medical image management processes.

Possible Prior Art

One possible prior art for this technology could be existing medical image processing systems that may not have the same level of integration with image management servers as described in this patent application.

Unanswered Questions

How does this technology ensure the security and privacy of medical images and processing results when shared with an image management server?

The technology described in the patent application does not explicitly mention the security measures in place to protect the confidentiality of medical images and processing results when transmitted to the image management server. It would be important to understand how this aspect is addressed to ensure compliance with privacy regulations and standards.

What are the potential limitations or challenges in implementing this technology in different healthcare settings?

The patent application does not discuss any potential limitations or challenges that may arise when implementing this technology in various healthcare settings. It would be beneficial to explore factors such as compatibility with existing systems, training requirements for healthcare staff, and scalability of the technology to meet the needs of different facilities.

Original Abstract Submitted

A medical information processing apparatus includes an obtaining unit that obtains a processing result of an original image that is a medical image and is obtained through processing performed in an external processing apparatus, and an output unit that outputs the processing result to an image management server, based on a setting as to whether to enable output of the processing result to the image management server. In a case where an examination including capturing of the original image is not ended by an obtained timing of the processing result, the output unit outputs the processing result to the image management server in response to an end of the examination. In a case where the examination is ended by the obtained timing of the processing result, the output unit outputs the processing result to the image management server at the obtained timing of the processing result.
